I just heard that my friend Erica Lee has been fired from Mix 105.1 after todays show.Erica,and Scott Mckenzie have been a staple in central Florida radio for about 15 years,and she was one of our biggest contributors to Santas Helping Hands.If I can gat an address,will you please join me in an e-mail or letter writing campaign to bring Erica back on the radio?

She was fired with no warning after almost 15 years,and it ain't right,and the ol'dolphin ain't gonna watch a friend go down like this.

Scott has non-hodgkins lymphoma,so he may need to stay for the medical insurance.Scotts contract expires in 6 months,so we'll see what happens to him then..

well that may be why he is staying but i still couldn't look at myself in the mirror if the person i had worked with for 15 years was fired like that and i didn't go with them. i know it sounds cruel but its how i am.

Turns out it was 19 years for them on the air together.Erica also has a non-compete clause in her contract,so she can't apply for another job at another radio station for 6 months..STUPID..

Well unless the firing was for cause, which doesn't appear to be the case here, any no compete clause would probably not be enforceable when the other party is the one that broke the contract. Especially in a right to work State like Florida.

According to Scott Maxwell it is enforceable,unless you have a lawyer to fight it,and by hte time you win,if you do,the 6 months is up.A lawyer already called the station friday,and said he'd help anyway he can..

Not a surprise as Florida is an at will state for hiring and firing. How sad that you can actually be fired because you have a crappy hair style or that your shirt isn't the right color.

And I know why the state has their labor laws as such. That way if they hire an immirgrant and it doesn't work out, they are not committed to keeping any one for any reason. Too many transplants for the state to committ themselves to having any real labor laws in place.

This gets the state out of any real committments to their employees.

So sorry to hear your friend was let go, but the company do fire as they want and most don't have a prayer for fighting why they were let go.

An amazing opportunity has come to me, and I need your help. I have been given the chance to join in the fight against blood cancers by running for the 2010 Central Florida Woman of the Year for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

Did you know that every four minutes someone is diagnosed with a blood cancer? Isn’t it hard to believe that every ten minutes someone loses their battle with a blood cancer? One of those people was my mother Marilyn, who passed away in July of 2000 from Lymphoma. Then in 2008 my dear friend Scott McKenzie was diagnosed with Lymphoma, and to say I freaked out would be an understatement. But in the months that followed, I was able to see first hand the huge strides in treatment options that had become available since my mother’s diagnosis. I’m so pleased to tell you that Scott has been in remission for more than a year, due in large part to a targeted chemotherapy called Rituxan, that’s just for Lymphoma patients. That’s proof enough for me that the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society is an organization that is doing the right things with the dollars it raises, and I’m proud to be associated with it.

This is where you come in. My campaign to be the Woman of the Year is all about dollars raised. Every dollar I raise is a vote for me and a vote to cure cancer. I am asking you today to join me in this ambitious campaign. I have until the Grand Finale on June 24th to reach my goal of $50,000. As you know, I’m a very competitive person, and I want to win AND break the local LLS fund raising record in the process!
